The City of Lakeland is taking the following steps to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone attending the 2020 Holly Jolly Jingle Bell Jog 5k. These guidelines are subject to change.
This event will be 100% outdoors. There will be no race day registration or vendors.
Packet pickup will take place at Kelly Recreation Complex on Friday, December 11th, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. Also, at the Cleveland Heights Golf Course the morning of the race. Participants will be encouraged to arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before corral start time.
Cleaning and Sanitization
We are working to reduce touchpoints for participants and provide cleaning and sanitization methods for volunteers and staff.
Hand sanitizer will be available for use at the portable toilets, pre-packaged snacks, bottled water, and race results stations.
Personal Protective Equipment
Event staff and volunteers will follow the local requirements for face masks where social distancing is not possible, along with wearing gloves when handing out water and pre-packaged snacks.
Our announcer will frequently remind participants to remain socially distanced.
Portable toilets will be located in the parking lot near the corral staging area and markers will be placed to encourage social distancing.
Participants will be pre-assigned a corral based on projected run times. Corrals will be distanced at the start. The number of runners in a single corral will be limited. The race start time and first corral will be begin at 7:00am. The remaining corrals will proceed every two minutes to reduce the number of runners along any point on the course.
There will not be an awards ceremony after the race. Runners will be encouraged to leave after they finish the race, grab a water, pre-packaged snack, and receive race results. Official results and race placement information will be determined after the race. Award winners will be notified of when and where to pick up their medal.
Participants are strongly encouraged to wear a mask before the start and after the race, where social distancing is not possible.
Participants who are, or who live with someone in the high-risk group defined by the CDC, should be cautious about participating. Participants should stay home if they are sick or have been in contact with someone who was sick in the past 14 days.
